Greetings and welcome to Kevin’s Korner. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Congratulations to Jack Hatch for making it through the 2014 legislative session without saying the ‘N’ word on the Senate or House floor. We know it was difficult for you senator to not use racial slurs in public, but we’re not worried. Another Hatch gaffe is surely right around the corner … Maybe that’s why the Democratic Governors Association isn’t wasting their money on the Iowa Dems’ chosen candidate for governor …
Hatch and his fellow frauds in the Iowa Senate will soon feel the boomerang effect over their hypocrisy and overreach. They’ve appeased their real bosses, the unions, who pay their servants in the Senate well … Gotta keep that gravy train rolling … But Iowa voters will see this blatant hypocrisy come November.

Things just got real in the U.S. Senate primary. Real ugly … Mark Jacobs and Joni Ernst have taken the gloves off and have turned the race in a bitter contest. Jacobs’ campaign accused Ernst of being ‘AWOL’ from the state senate on a new attack website. Ernst missed 42% of the votes during the 2014 legislative session, the site says …
The Jacobs campaign also basically accused the Ernst campaign of being tied to a new PAC that has been running attack ads against Jacobs …
The Ernst campaign fired back with indignation about the use of the term “AWOL”. Ernst, a battalion commander in the Iowa National Guard, said, “use of this word is an insult to the men and women I serve with. I hope he uses today’s debate as an opportunity to apologize to every single one of them” …
Buckle up. This last month is going to interesting. And the bitter infighting could open the door for Matt Whitaker or Sam Clovis … Or insure this primary race goes to convention …
Matt Whitaker is smart to play up his Hawkeye football roots in a new campaign commercial. I learned a long time ago, when I moved to Iowa to take a TV sports reporter job, that you can never go wrong with focusing on the Hawkeyes. The only place is might hurt you is Ames …

It is very interesting that The Family Leader decided to title its U.S. Senate debate from April 25 “Principle Over Politics”, because a lot of people think the group was placing politics over principles during the State Central Committee elections that took place the next day …
There is a lot of evidence that TFL was working with Liberty Iowa PAC to try to sway the SCC elections …

For Liberty Iowa, it was a desperate attempt to hold onto power. For The Family Leader, it was a desperate attempt to save RPI Chairman Danny Carroll’s job. Carroll is a lobbyist for The Family Leader.
We don’t need to hire Hercule Poirot to connect the dots. It’s pretty simple: Liberty Iowa told convention delegates NOT to vote for 14 candidates … The only known candidates not on the list were Paulistinians running for reelection and, conveniently, the nine candidates The Family Leader endorsed … That alone is just a little too much of a coincidence …
Then there’s the fact that the attack flyers that were handed out by a Republican Party of Iowa intern … Her boss is Danny Carroll, RPI chairman and Family Leader lobbyist …
And of course, there’s this photo, taken at the Third District Convention by a loyal TIR reader, of Big Liberty in serious conversation with Big Family:

Maybe they were just talking about the weather … Or maybe the worried look on their faces is realization they were about to get slaughtered in the SCC elections …
Perhaps the most pertinent fact of all this is The Family Leader’s apparent refusal to denounce the attack flyers, which basically called almost the entire makeup of the new State Central Committee “RINOs”, “moderates”, unprincipled, spineless, and claimed they are all a “cheerleader for the political establishment.”
You would think denouncing those statements would be an easy thing to do. But I have asked TFL twice if they denounce those flyers. And twice, they have not answered that question …
Late Wednesday night, I sent TFL’s political director Greg Baker three simple questions via Facebook (emphasis mine):
“There is pretty clear evidence that The Family Leader and Liberty Iowa PAC had some sort of working agreement in regard to the SCC elections. Can you tell me the nature of that agreement? Was anyone at The Family Leader involved in crafting the flyers distributed by RPI’s intern, or was any with TFL aware of them ahead of time? Do you denounce them now?”
Very early Thursday morning, Greg responded, saying he would get me the answers later that morning and that he was the main one who worked on the district conventions for TFL … Then early that afternoon, Baker sent another message saying he’s working on a response and he would send it to me by the end of the business day …
At 5:05 pm, 11½ hours after Greg Baker said he would get me the answers, I finally got them. Sort of … Not from Greg, but from TFL’s spokesman Dave Barnett, which I found very odd …
Dave said there was “no working agreement” with Liberty Iowa and they had no knowledge of the flyers or participation in distributing them … However, TFL did not denounce them, which again, I found very odd ..
So, I asked a few follow-up questions, which were sent late Thursday night. They still have not been answered … Here are my questions for The Family Leader:
“Does TFL denounce the flyers that were distributed by Liberty Iowa at convention that disparaged several SCC candidates?
Were there discussions between anyone with TFL and anyone with Liberty Iowa regarding SCC candidates before or during the district conventions?
Did TFL recruit candidates to run for SCC? Who?
Did TFL ask any SCC candidates to pledge to support Chairman Carroll?”
The silence is deafening.
But then, what difference does it make? Dude, it was like a week ago …

America Rising has a list of what they call, “The Top 5 Most Shocking Benghazi Updates This Week” … The title is a misnomer, methinks … Everything we learned this week, we actually already knew: The White House lied about the cause of the attack, they did not try to help the Americans in harms way and they did everything they could to cover up, purely for political reasons …
And Democrats are still planning to coronate Hillary Clinton. Remember, Hill, it’s the lie that gets you. And you lied about Benghazi, including to the face of the victims’ families. We won’t forget and we won’t let you get away with it.
That’s it for this week. Thanks for dropping by. If it’s got badly, it’ll go badly.
